Build This Health Claim Folder Before You Need It

Claims paperwork becomes hardest at exactly the wrong time. Receipts sit in different bags, reports arrive on separate apps and the person who bought the policy may not be the person managing the admission.
A basic shared folder, prepared in advance, can turn that scramble into a checklist.
Keep the permanent documents together
Create one folder for documents that do not change with each claim. Give a trusted family member access and review it after every renewal.
- Policy schedule, customer information sheet and e-card
- Insurer, TPA and broker contact details
- Identity documents for every insured member
- Nominee details and recent policy endorsements
Open a dated folder for every treatment
Save consultation notes, prescriptions, diagnostic reports, hospital estimates, final bills, discharge summary and payment proofs in chronological order. Photograph thermal-paper receipts because they fade.
Do not discard cancelled cheques, bank details or original documents until the claim is closed and any query period has passed.
What to remember
The best claim folder is boring, current and easy for someone else to understand. Ten minutes after each medical visit is usually enough to keep it that way.
Coverage, exclusions, limits and claim requirements vary by insurer and policy. Read the customer information sheet and policy wording before you buy or renew.
